HOUGIE HEAVEN HOME
Building Our Beds
During the summer of 1994, Jon and I cut pine trees from our neighbor's property.  Jim had planted them, as a kid for a 4H project years ago.  The trees were planted too close together and needed thinning.  Jon peeled the bark off with a draw knife.  I assisted by holding the poles still.  At this time we thought we would use the poles as beams in our dream house,   It was later we decided to use them for our beds and the banister for the upstairs landing.
We stacked and covered the poles, with time they  changed color as they dried.
In July 1999 Jon decided to start building our beds.  He sanded the poles, and cut mortise and tendon joints for assembly.  After the headboard and footboard were assembled, we saw they would not fit into our little cabin,  So Jon decided to wait until our house was built to finish the beds.
