Jon drew out the plans for our base cabinets according to our needs. The cabinet doors and exterior parts are built with red oak, like the upper cabinets. We had to prepare the rough cut boards before he started the construction.
With three different kind of ceramic tiles, we designed a pattern for the counter top. Using some of our 12 inch square floor tiles, we surrounded them with the 6 inch tiles that were given to us. Jon stained the cabinets with Minwax Golden Oak stain, like the upper cabinets.
Monday, April 7, Jon finished the hardware on the cabinets, installed the dishwasher and installed the sink with the fixtures. The pot shelf above the upper cabinets and the light are the only projects left to be done in the kitchen. The corner cabinet will be moved to the living room soon. We moved it into the kitchen, while the floors were being finished. The walnut hand pump sink is completely hooked up and ready to use.
The sideboard has already been moved into position, Lynda Taylor was so kind as to repair a ceramic tile on the counter, that was chipped during our cleaning job. Lynda had the pleasure of cleaning all the sawdust off the chandelier Wednesday.
Lynda just couldn't live with the cuts on the tile at the back of the toilet upstairs, so she experimented until she found something to fix the cuts.
In order to print this page for my records, spaces had to be made wider. I apologize, if it bothers you.
