June 25 three men from the Ferrel Gas Company from Clayton, GA, came to set the propane tank. Things were going just fine, until the tank was over to the side of the truck. Then the excitement started. The truck started sliding down the driveway. No one was inside the truck at the time. The man in the back of the truck jumped off. The truck came to a quick stop, when the tank hit the tree.
Once they managed to get the truck back enough to unjam the tank, they tied the back of the truck to a tree before continuing. The tires on the drivers side of the truck came off the ground for a short time as the tank was lowered. Finally the tank was on the ground and they finished setting it into the space Jon had already leveled an area for the gas tank and dug the trench for the pipe lines. Jon will build a small shanty around the tank. He will leave plenty ventilation and easy access for filling the tank.
Jon's digging days weren't over with the gas line. The trench for the septic had to be dug from inside the basement to the septic tank. Believe me, digging in the clay and rocks is not anything like digging in the sandy ground in Florida.
