HOUGIE HEAVEN HOUSE RAISING
Porch Railings June 5-6 and June 20, 2002
After working at the Tannehill Iron Works Civil War Reenactment Memorial Day weekend, we went to Mobile, Al on a week long vacation. Jon enjoyed fishing with my brother, Frank. The 11 pound catfish they caught will grow as the years pass. My sister, Helen, surprised me by taking me to Slidel, LA to visit my aunt and uncle. The next surprise was a trip to New Orleans to the Cafe' Du Monde in the French Quarters for Beignets and Coffee. The day ended with an evening at the Grand Casino, Gulfport, MS. It had been nine years since Jon and I took a vacation and we enjoyed every minute there.
On our way home from Mobile, we stopped at a Home Depot in Atlanta for supplies needed to add the porch railings. Jon's first project was the railing job. We are both very satisfied with how nice it makes the porch look.
June 20, Jon took on the job of the back porch railings. Adding the 2X10 boards on the top of the railings not only looks good, but they will be used as a surface to display flower pots or just set a drink.
