The job that Dax did is especially special to me. It will mean that someday Jon and I will not only have flush toilets, but we will have hot water, and a functioning shower in the house. The shower in the shed has been better than no shower and the cold running water in the cabin heats fine on the stove, but it will be nicer once we move into the new house.
The first time I met Dax Padgett, he was working in the upstairs bathroom running pipes through the ceiling. He worked alone and stayed busy all the time he was on the job. As it turns out, he lived just across the road from our place until age 17. He knows all of our neighbors. His parents must be very proud of their son, who does a good even without supervision.
Dax and the Andrews Auld Heating and Cooling crew of four men worked in the basement at the same time. I teased them that Dax could work alone, but it took four of them to do their job. There was joking and laughter as the worked. The smell of glue was strong, but Dax said he couldn't smell it anymore.
