HOUGIE HEAVEN HOUSE RAISING
BASEMENT WINDOWS AND DOOR, AUGUST 24
Mark and Elaine Brennen came from Rising Fawn, GA to help with the basement wall. We met Elaine in Florida in 1981. It was later that we met Mark. Mark and Elaine are remodeling their house, but took time out to come help us for a couple days. Their house was built just before or during the Civil War. It is looking great.
Elaine cut the felt for the door and window openings and stapled them into place. Mark and Jon prepared the wall with girt boards and prepared the flashing. They installed the windows first then the door. I spent my time pulling weeds, moving dirt, and moving rocks, just below the house.
