HOUGIE HEAVEN HOUSE RAISING
CONSTRUCTION OF BACK PORCH AND MUD ROOM , AUGUST 14-15
Bill and Judy Bashline, friends from Springfield, KY, came for a week to help build the back porch and the mud room. They arrived at our house, while we were at Davy Crockett Days in Lawrenceburg, TN. We arrived home Monday afternoon to find them greeting us from our little cabin porch. It was about 20 years ago that we met them through the Florida Frontiersmen Club in Florida.
The work began Tuesday morning, after Jon and Bill picked up supplies at Lowe's. The task of digging footers, pouring the pads, and getting them level was well on the way, when Judy and I went to check on the progress. It was my day to do laundry and get settled in from the trip. Wednesday, Judy baked our men chocolate chip cookies, which was well received. I did some weeding in the garden and the flower beds. Jon and Bill got the peers plumb, boxed in the floor, and nailed down the decking. When the work for the day was done, we all enjoyed setting on the front porch. There wasn't a dull moment having Jon and Bill together. They reminded me of Curly and Mo.
