HOUGIE HEAVEN HOUSE RAISING
AFTERNOON OF JUNE 10, Day One
THREE WALLS WERE RAISED
The Hougie Heaven House Raising crew had never worked together before. Some had never done construction work. However; the morning was very productive. By noon the East and West walls were ready to be raised. The porch crew and the kitchen crew joined in to help. When the first wall went up, everyone was holding on too tight. Jon told them to let the wall go upright to allow the cleats to support the wall. Then they relaxed and held on, while Gerry nailed the support braces. He joked about taking a break, while they held the wall. Everyone laughed!
The lift crew for the East and West wall: Frank, Susie, Linda, Jon, Kathy, Bev, Gerry, Joe, Gtant, Keith, and Terry. Steve and Tommy arrived from Florida in time to help with the North wall.
The porch crew:
Keith, Terry, Kathy, and Bev had the porch post anchored to the foundation footers and squared with the wall by the end of the day.
