These six stacks of rough cut boards will become our dream house.  Jon and I have been logging since the summer of 1994 for these boards.  Dorothy Childers, a little old lady, who lives down the road from us, convened us that we could do it.  The first logs we got were on her property.  She told us how her dad and brothers had logged.  We have built a three room workshop, a storage building, a chicken coop, a wood shed, and two Taj Ma Hooters from lumber we harvested ourselves.  We have helped the sawyer at the sawmill with all the cutting.  The stacking of the boards represent lots of hours of work.  The 4X8X16 boards were quite heavy to move and stack.
Ted Mercurio, a friend from Hull, VA, who has a second home in Otto, NC, came with his backhoe April  25, to move the extra dirt from the basement.
April 27, Jon built the front stud wall for the basement and the center load bearing wall April 28. June 8,  Joe Holland, a friend from Tunnel Hill, GA helped Jon plane 2X6 boards for the top and bottom plates. The next page shows Jon and Joe setting the trusses and laying the sub-floor.
